What the heck is this course?
"Great Uncle Rupert" - Randy Otto, 2015Adventures in Photography
is a constantly changing, always evolving collection of classes where students explore new techniques, ideas, or compositions.
Who is this course for?
Anyone and everyone that wants to have a good time trying fun and challenging photography ideas! This is not
a technical class, so we don't focus on technical merit; the idea is to try and use the guidelines of the project and assignments to get you thinking and doing new things. We're working on creative thinking, seeing, and doing. Some assignments might require some particular skill or understanding of your camera to accomplish, but every week there will be a few different things to try, and you can choose which assignment(s) you're interested in and get to work.
This is a great course for photographerrs just coming out of the Beginning Digital Photography course, or people new to firefly53 who'd like to get to know us.What do I need for this course?
A pulse, reliable transportation, a working digital camera, and some amount of curiosity and imagination! It helps to have an email account, and know how to get your photos out of your camera, onto your computer, and in an email, but we can work around that, if neccessary! How do I know what we're going to cover?
You don't! If you take this course once, or fifty times, it will always be different, always be changing direction, and you
will be one of the influences that determine our path to exploration!
One of the best things about this course is that it's not set in stone; the personalities, interests, and styles of each participant influence nearly everything that happens.
Each instance of the course will be given some broad theme as a starting point, and we'll progress each week from that point, discovering new ideas and techniques, learning from each other's photographs and experiences. Will I be returned back to my family, each week, unchanged?
We surely hope not! If you're spending time each week working on the challenges, and you have your eyes and ears open, as well as participate by sharing your thoughts, your family and friends will probably not recognize you when you finish!
Okay, they'll still recognize you, but you might not recognize yourself!
A camera, some time to shoot photos, and that's about it! Insatiable curiosity is a plus!
