Liz - Silver Efex Pro - by Tim Waite, 2016

This course is designed to introduce photographers to several concepts and approaches to portraiture.

Using various kinds of lights, including speedlights and studio heads, we'll explore various methods of modifying lights, including soft boxes, umbrellas, beauty dishes, and reflectors.

We'll be using affordable and portable gear, that anyone can purchase and use in their own space.

Along with learning about the different lighting tools, we'll discuss light placement, backdrops, and posing.

Each class will consist of some discussion of equipment and concepts, as well as practical application, using and shooting with the gear we provide.

During the final class, each student will create a portrait lighting configuration of their own, exhibiting their new skills at portrait lighting!

You should have a camera with a lens appropriate for portraiture. Any lens with an available focal length between 50mm and 100mm will do. A 50mm f/1.8 prime lens will work well, as will a lens like a 100mm or 105mm macro lens. Ask if you're unsure if you have an appropriate lens!
